on the booze

I've been on the booze a lot lately, and that looks set to continue. Not just drinking it, but talking about its impact on society and what - if anything - we should do about it. Like minimum alcohol pricing, for example.
In fact, I'll shortly be talking to a Public Health Conference and planning to use the booze as my topic. Possibly tactless, as I'm on the morning after the conference reception and dinner. I'll be borrowing some entertaining stuff from our Fringe show Your Days Are Numbered, some ideas from the debate on Evidence-Based Policy that I chaired at last year's Battle of Ideas, and some more recent discussions I've had about how drinking is falling even as the problem of drinking looms larger and larger in the public mind.
In other news, Your Days Are Numbered will be revived for a performance at the Sci-Fi London Film Festival on April 23rd. I'm travelling a lot to train the finalists of FameLab competitions to communicate their science better. And I'm trying to find time to get out on my motorbike once in a while. Though, sadly, not off-roading in Africa for Riders for Health. Not yet...
